Born in Copenhagen, Mads (pronounced Mass) is a Danish actor. His uncle, who ran a local theatre, introduced him to acting at the age of five, after which he proudly announced to the world, that he wanted to become an actor, giving his parents somewhat of a heart attack. Years later, he received his formal training at The National Danish Theatre School, and has also studied with William Esper in New York.
He is probably best known for his ongoing role as the suave and womanizing civil cop, Mr. Thomsen in GROSSSTADTREVIER, one of the most successful German TV-series of all time. However, he has also appeared in films such as the Academy Award nominee A Royal Affair, The Wild Swans, Ein Mann Ein Fjord, and City 44 in addition to several Danish and German TV-series such as 1864, A Case For Two, and the Emmy nominated The Protectors. He allows time for challenging roles in short films and independent projects whenever possible, most recently in Perpetual produced by Lars Von Trier’s Zentropa.
Theatrical credits span from musical theatre, to classics by Shakespeare, Moliére, Ibsen, and Chekhov, contemporary plays by Mark Ravenhill, Harold Pinter, George Tabori, and various contemporary productions involving Danish playwrights at The National Theatre.
Mads is native to both British and American English, and speaks fluent German in addition to his Scandinavian heritage. He enjoys physical training, diving the seven seas, singing, playing different instruments, and riding his vintage motorcycle, whenever it’s up and running. He is open about his longtime addiction to British and American fictional series and looks forward to starring in one himself.
